Pre-Event and Pre-Season Prep in Dallas
Whether you have a race coming up, a powerlifting meet, the start of a sport season, or a tournament weekend, the work you do in the weeks leading up matters. Pre-event prep at RXN Performance in Uptown Dallas is a focused care window designed to get you to your event in the best possible shape.
What is pre-event prep?
Pre-event prep is a short, intentional block of work in the lead-up to a known event. It typically combines manual therapy and soft-tissue work to address restrictions, targeted mobility and movement work to peak your readiness, and a tapered loading approach so you show up fresh.
Who benefits from pre-event prep?
- Runners heading into a marathon, half-marathon, or trail race
- Lifters preparing for a powerlifting or weightlifting meet
- Hyrox, CrossFit, and obstacle athletes in the lead-up to a competition
- Recreational and competitive athletes heading into a season opener or playoff stretch
- Hikers, climbers, and adventure travelers prepping for a big trip
What does pre-event prep look like?
The exact plan depends on the event and how far out you are. Common elements include:
- Initial assessment of where you are, what is bothering you, and what needs to happen before event day.
- Manual therapy and soft-tissue work to address current restrictions.
- Targeted movement and mobility work specific to your sport.
- Education on tapering, sleep, nutrition, and recovery in the final week.
- Event-week tune-up session if appropriate.
How early should I start?
It depends on the event and your starting point. For a marathon or major endurance event, 4-6 weeks out is ideal. For a lifting meet, 3-4 weeks. For a single-day competition, 2 weeks is usually enough. If you are already dealing with an issue you want resolved before the event, start earlier rather than later.
What about post-event recovery?
We also work with athletes coming out of a major event — helping you recover faster, address any new issues from the event itself, and plan the transition back into normal training.
