Neck Pain Treatment in Dallas
Neck pain is one of the most common reasons active adults come into RXN Performance — from desk workers dealing with chronic stiffness to lifters trying to figure out why their press hurts to people working back from a whiplash injury. At our Uptown Dallas clinic, we treat the full range of common neck issues and refer out clearly when something needs more specialized care.
What types of neck pain do we treat?
- Postural neck pain from desk work — the slow-burn ache from prolonged sitting, forward head posture, and lack of movement.
- Training-related neck pain — issues from heavy pressing, deadlifting, or any sport that loads the cervical spine.
- Whiplash and post-trauma neck pain — once cleared by a physician, we help restore range of motion, strength, and function.
- Chronic mechanical neck pain — long-standing stiffness and discomfort that has not resolved with other approaches.
- Cervicogenic headaches — headaches driven by neck dysfunction, often presenting as one-sided pain that originates at the base of the skull.
When we refer out
We are committed to providing honest care, which means knowing where our scope ends. If your neck pain involves any of these, we will refer you to the right provider before starting treatment: progressive neurological symptoms (weakness, numbness that is spreading), bladder or bowel changes, signs of vertebral artery involvement, suspected fracture, or any presentation that warrants imaging or specialist evaluation we cannot provide. You will get a clear referral, not a brush-off.
Why is your neck hurting?
For most active adults, neck pain has surprisingly few common drivers: poor thoracic mobility forcing the neck to overwork, weak deep neck flexors, tight upper traps and pec minor, and movement patterns built on years of sitting or training without addressing the upper back. Adjustments alone rarely fix this — the muscles and movement patterns have to change too.
How do we treat neck pain at RXN?
Treatment combines manual care with progressive rehab targeted at the actual drivers. A typical plan includes:
- Assessment of cervical and thoracic mobility, deep neck flexor strength, scapular control, and upper-body movement patterns.
- Manual therapy including adjustments, soft-tissue release of the upper traps, levator, scalenes, pec minor, and suboccipitals.
- Targeted strengthening of the deep neck flexors, mid and lower traps, and rotator cuff.
- Postural and movement education so you can hold your improvements between sessions.
How long does neck pain treatment take?
It varies based on presentation. Acute training-related strains often resolve in 2-4 weeks. Chronic postural neck pain typically takes 6-12 weeks of consistent work to fully resolve. Cervicogenic headaches are often somewhere in between. We set expectations honestly at the discovery visit.
What about chronic headaches?
If your headaches are driven by neck dysfunction, treating the neck addresses the headaches. If they are not — if they have a different driver like migraines, tension headaches with other causes, or anything more complex — we will tell you honestly and help direct you to the right care.
