You’re active. You don’t want to sit on the couch for two weeks waiting for your back to feel normal again — you want to get back to running, lifting, or whatever you love. Sports chiropractic at RXN Performance is built for that.
Dr. Ryan Giniel, D.C., trained in both kinesiology (Central Michigan University) and chiropractic (Parker University). That combination matters: he doesn’t just adjust you and send you out the door. He looks at how you move, where you’re compensating, and what’s actually driving the pain — then builds a plan that gets you back to performing without setting you up to be back in the same spot in six months.
What is sports chiropractic?
Sports chiropractic is a specialized branch of chiropractic care focused on athletes and physically active people. Unlike traditional chiropractic, which often centers on quick spinal adjustments and pain relief, sports chiropractic combines manual therapy (adjustments and soft-tissue work) with movement assessment, biomechanical analysis, and rehabilitation exercises. The goal isn’t just to fix the pain — it’s to improve how you move so you don’t end up back in pain six weeks later.
Who is sports chiropractic for?
Sports chiropractic is for anyone who trains, competes, or stays active and either is dealing with pain, recovering from an injury, or wants to optimize how they move. Common patients at RXN Performance include runners and triathletes managing recurring overuse injuries, powerlifters and CrossFit athletes dealing with shoulder/hip/low back issues, recreational athletes in tennis, golf, basketball, or pickup sports, desk workers who train on the side and want to move better, active parents juggling kids and work and trying to stay in shape, and athletes returning from surgery or formal physical therapy who need the next layer of work.
What conditions does sports chiropractic treat?
- Lower back pain from training, sitting, or impact sports
- Shoulder pain (especially for lifters, throwers, and overhead athletes)
- Knee pain (running, squatting, jumping)
- Hip and IT band issues
- Sciatica and nerve impingement
- Neck pain from desk work or training
- Acute strains and sport-specific injuries
- Recurring injuries that never seem to fully resolve
How does sports chiropractic work at RXN Performance?
Our sessions are an hour. That matters — most chiropractic practices run patients through 10-minute visits and rely on volume. At RXN, you get time. A typical session looks like this:
- Movement check. We start every session by checking how you’re moving today. What’s tight, what’s not loading right, what’s changed since last time.
- Hands-on work. Manual adjustments where appropriate, plus soft-tissue therapy (instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, pin-and-stretch, active release techniques) to address restricted areas.
- Movement work. Specific corrective exercises and movement patterns to reinforce the changes we made manually. This is the part most clinics skip.
- Plan for between visits. You leave with 2-4 things to work on at home or in the gym before your next session.
Is sports chiropractic covered by insurance?
RXN Performance is an out-of-network practice, which means we don’t bill insurance directly. Why: it lets us spend a full hour with you instead of being forced into 10-minute visits to make insurance economics work. Many patients submit a superbill (which we provide) to their insurance for partial reimbursement. We’re happy to explain how this works during your free discovery call.
How long until I feel better?
Most patients feel meaningful improvement within 2-4 visits. Full return to your sport, training, or whatever you’re trying to get back to usually takes 6-8 weeks of consistent work — longer if the issue has been there for years. We’ll give you an honest timeline at your discovery visit, not a sales pitch.
What sets RXN apart from other Dallas chiropractors?
Three things. First, the hour-long appointments — you get time and attention, not a conveyor belt. Second, the kinesiology background — Dr. Ryan doesn’t just adjust, he looks at movement and builds a plan around how your body actually works. Third, the location — we’re inside Switch Fitness in Uptown Dallas, which means we’re built for people who already train and want care that fits how they live.
