Soft-Tissue Therapy in Dallas
Soft-tissue therapy is the hands-on work that targets muscles, fascia, tendons, and the connective tissue between them. At RXN Performance in Uptown Dallas, soft-tissue work is part of nearly every session we do — because for most active adults, what is going on in the muscle and fascia matters as much as what is happening at the joint.
What is soft-tissue therapy?
Soft-tissue therapy is a manual treatment approach that uses pressure, motion, and instruments to address restrictions, adhesions, and tension in muscles, fascia, and tendons. Unlike a massage focused purely on relaxation, soft-tissue therapy in a clinical setting is targeted, diagnostic, and combined with active movement to produce lasting change.
What techniques do we use?
- Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) — using specialized tools to break up adhesions, improve circulation, and stimulate healing in chronically restricted tissue.
- Pin-and-stretch — pinning a tight muscle while you actively move through range, releasing restrictions through active motion.
- Active Release Techniques (ART)-style work — hands-on release combined with patient movement to restore tissue glide.
- Trigger point release — sustained pressure to release tight bands of muscle that refer pain elsewhere.
- Fascial release — addressing the connective tissue layers that connect muscle groups across the body.
Who benefits from soft-tissue therapy?
- Lifters dealing with chronic muscle tightness limiting range of motion
- Runners with recurring soft-tissue restrictions (IT band, calves, hip flexors)
- Desk workers with chronic upper back, neck, and shoulder tension
- Athletes preparing for or recovering from competition
- Anyone with a nagging tightness that stretching has not resolved
How does soft-tissue therapy fit with chiropractic?
Adjustments and soft-tissue therapy address different layers. Adjustments restore joint motion. Soft-tissue therapy releases the muscle and fascia that may have caused the restriction in the first place — and that will pull the joint back out of place if not addressed. Combining the two produces more durable results than either alone.
